The hollow construction makes this a handy lightweight knob and, provided that the drawer is not too heavy or overloaded, will be more than sufficient for soft woods such as pine and beech. It is also well suited for hard woods such as oak and mahogany which will hold the screw that much tighter given their much tighter grain
