The Napoleonic wars created a style known as Military or Campaign furniture. Designed to make maximum use of storage in the hold of a ship, it is block-like in shape and in separate moveable sections. The handles were mostly flush fitting and the corners protected with brass covers. Still used today in boat building, these items have other modern applications such as to furnish picnic boxes for sporting and social events e.g. racing, shooting parties and family celebration picnics.
